Okay, so why name an anthro site Animaegis? Well, I wanted something that sounded animalistic, and so thus had sprung in my mind, Animaegis. Animaegis is singular, while Animaegi is plural.
Animaegi were created by Human Geneticists who were messing with DNA, and had found a way to break the certain strands to obtain animalistic features and enhancements. But after creating a plethora of creatures, one scientist in general, felt bad with what they were doing. They were meddling in God's affairs in the creation of animals and humans. He stood up for these creatures that learned to speak as human children do.
Animaegi are as intelligent as any human being. And one Animaegis in particular had began to sway the heart of a scientist. Dr. Kamok was his name, and Experiment 107 was what she was referred to, though they gave her a nickname of Cherry. She was a honey-golden colored wolf-Animaegis.
They would talk for what seemed like hours, and most of the conversation killers was that of Cherry's doing.
"Kamok, I feel so alone. I feel trapped. I feel like I don't belong here."
"Cherry, this is your home, you have nothing out there for you."
"How can I be sure Kamok? Something tells me there is more out there than besides the cold concrete floors and metal bars."
Kamok drew silent. The tablet that he had been looking over was now forgotten, hanging in his hand at his side. He bit the end of his pen fervently, trying to think.
This is clearly unacceptable. Animaegi, like us, need freedom. Freedom of choice, freedom to make their own life decisions. It's what God wanted. He created us to be independent, free, and at peace. No peace will come of this. I can feel it.
It was that night that he helped her escape unnoticed by the security cameras. One by one, he let all that he could go free. Soon he was a legend among the Animaegi, and Kamok was burned into the brains of all. Right up until there was too many in the forests and they began to make their ways into cites and towns. Slowly, people began to accept them, for they proved that they were just as intelligent, though the whole transition process was very bloody. But the good prevailed, and proved themselves worthy of respect... EQUAL respect.
As time went on, no Animaegi or Human remembers where the Animaegi were created, or by whom. Many tests are being done, and many a time scientists have given up, even quit their jobs over this mind boggling question: How did Animaegi come to be?
With no evolution solutions, and very encrypted DNA, Animaegi are now being questioned... are they aliens? Are they some sort of freak show of nature's twisted dreams? Humans are again drawing leery of the bestial people. What happens now? Are the humans going to try and corner all the Animaegi and dispose of them? Or are the Animaegi going to prove themselves worthy once again, and prevail with their extraordinary senses and wild personalities?
Our setting is, of course, a world in which animagi and humans live together, although not peacefully. There is a division between the two that has it's roots in the world's biggest debate. The origins of the animagi is shrouded in mystery; evolotion doesn't explain it and they simply didn't spring from nowhere. The question is whether or not humans were the ones who created the animagi. The sciences that might have produced them have long since been lost to time, and only recently have researches been conducted into the area of genetic manipulation.
Dr. Fain, an obsessed and dangerously intelligent scientist, wormed his way into the government's favor with his racist theories and was granted the funding to start a secret lab where he could delve into the dark sciences of bio-engineering in an attempt to create a fully functional animaegus, thus proving the theory that humans created animagi and justifying countless years of oppression against them. He was provided with materials to work from the government's darkest prison, humans who would never see the light of day again anyway, as well as impoverished animagi discreetly taken from the streets and whatever animals that he needed. He has made monumental leaps with his work.
However, they are not perfect, and now some of them have escaped.
The Tanes are a specialized and adaptable force within the government. They handle anything that must be delt with discreetly. This includes things like bodyguarding important persons, assasinations, neutralizing terrorist attacks, and other things, like destroying escaped government experiments that are supposed to be a secret.
The Iblis (who are not yet formed within the story) are those who also want to destroy the escaped experiments, or haunts, as they will eventually come to be called, because the haunts look like animagi, but are twisted and violent in nature and only incite more hatred from the ignorant humans because of the atrocities that they are happy to commit.
The conflict between the two is this: with every haunt that the Iblis encounter, they become more suspicious of the idea that some human is trying to prove the one theory that would be disastrous to all animagi, not to mention the cruelty associated with such a venture. The Tanes meanwhile, are charged with destroying the experiments before the government's secret gets out, as it could potentially cause a major crisis if it ever did. The Tanes have liscence to do whatever nessessary to prevent anyone from getting proof or going public with the news.
Will the Iblis discover the truth before it's too late?
If you are having trouble creating a character, these guidelines should help you to create a character that will fit well into our plot. When posting a character, please refer to the Character Biography thread and be sure to post your character's profile in the Pending Characters thread to await approval by the admin.
Tanes The Tanes are a specialized and adaptable force within the government. They handle anything that must be dealt with discreetly. This includes things like body guarding important persons, assassinations, neutralizing terrorist attacks, and other odd jobs that require subtlety. In this case, they have been charged with retrieving Fain’s experiments dead or alive before the secret of the Genos Project gets loose, as well as containing that secret should it get loose. The Tanes’ standard uniform is a white button-up shirt, black pants, black shoes, a black jacket and a tie. They are generally familiar with guns, gadgets, and vehicles of various types. The Tanes are all humans and can be men or women. When creating a Tane character please keep in mind that they are highly trained professionals, and, while quirks of personality tend to make them more interesting, they will be held to a certain standard when admins are looking to approve characters. So please, nothing too extreme.
Haunts Haunts are the twisted products of Dr. Fain’s experiments. In an attempt to prove the theory that humans created animagi, Fain has delved into the intricate mysteries of bio-engineering, creating these creatures. The haunts basically look like animagi but have several defining features and characteristics. They are, of course, generally violent and/or defensive in nature. Their intelligence varies from primal thoughts to limited speech, but all share a compulsive violent streak. They are all susceptible to flaws on a cellular level, and therefore all have a distinctive cloying smell of rotting meat. Their fur is always faded in color, giving rise to their name, the haunts. Also, haunts, because they are subject to the whims of Fain’s ideas, can be hybrids. Although each case varies, they have a tendency to hate sunlight and are generally solitary in their wanderings. They impulsively look for things necessary to their immediate needs, like food, water, and shelter, and they prefer dark places. Because haunts are foes set up simply to be knocked down, there is no character bio required for them. They are unlikely to have much of a history and if you had to do a bio on every experiment you wanted to take down then things would get tedious and cluttered. Therefore, no biography required. However, this means that it is important to be descriptive. Use your imagination, but stay within the guidelines listed here. Also, don’t abuse this power of spontaneous creation and create foes faster than they should appear. There are only so many escaped experiments out there, and one at a time should be handful enough for anyone. If you want a haunt that is unique to the others in a way not listed here then send me, Kiedra, a Personal Message detailing it before you play it. For example, if you wanted a haunt that had memories of being human, or some other such quirk, please PM me first. I am the one that plays Fain and any such difference in your haunt may have a chance to play a more defining role in the plot.
Iblis The Iblis are those who also want to destroy the escaped experiments because they look like animagi but are twisted and violent in nature and only incite more hatred from the ignorant humans because of the atrocities that they are happy to commit. Because the site is still fairly new, this group has not yet been formed within the plot, but its roots are beginning to take form. The Tanes, due to a serious shortage of manpower, are hiring animagi to help them hunt the dangerous experiments, but are passing them off as diseased and mentally destabilized animagi so that the nature of the haunts will remain secret. Eventually, these animagi mercenaries will grow suspicious and split off to form their own group and carry out their own investigations. This means that your character has a chance to be one of the founding members of the Iblis. If you have a character whom you want to join the ranks of those hired by the government to help hunt “diseased animagi”, join a Recruitment Poster thread in one of the cities, or, if one is unavailable or nonexistent, PM an admin requesting one be set up for you and your character will be set up to take part in one of the next hunts. Characters that fall into this category don’t necessarily have to be animagi, but if you have a human who is going to fight haunts then they must be better than your average human fighter because animagi are naturally stronger and more agile than humans and haunts are stronger still than them. This also means that characters younger than about 16 are unlikely to be hired, but could probably join the Iblis after they have split from the government. However, they are unlikely to have a major role.
If you have a character or don't want a character that falls into these categories, that's Ok too. These are simply for the benefit of people who are unshure as to going about creating a character appropriate to the site.
